PERSONALITY:
She's incredibly greedy, and not afraid to show it. In fact, she has a tendency to flaunt alot of things, such as her volupuous body, as she's usually dressed in less than modest types of clothes. While she is intelligent and prefers to outwit her enemies rather than fight, at times she develops a temper around people who fool around a little too much. She also cannot stand anyone anyone who would dare to make fun of her dreams.

Often she prefers to save her own skin in any situation, but if her loved ones are truly in danger she will fight and risk her life for them. Alongside all this she's basically an average 19 year old girl, she loves fashion and can be rather perky.
Her favorite things are: Tangerines, money, and maps

As of now, due to her past she will attempt to avoid becoming close to anyone, being that she knows she will eventually have to betray them in the end. She says that she despises pirates, even if she acts like one.

BACKGROUND:
Nami was born on an island outside of the area in which the game takes place. After her real parents were killed during a pirate raid shortly after her birth, the infant Nami was found laughing obliviously by another orphan, named Nojiko. She brought the helpless infant with her as she continued to search for any survivors. Soon they came across an injured female soldier. The woman admired their strength, living on even in this miserable battleground, and thus she adopted them. The girls were raised on a tangerine farm, learning from their foster mother to be strong willed and determined females. Nami grew to love maps during this time, yearning to understand how to draw out charts and plot the topography of the entire world. She went so far as to steal books from the local store, willing to risk it in order to fulfill her dream. Bellmere was poor, and had trouble paying for the books when Nami got caught, but she supported Nami's dream, and with that support the young girl's skills flourished.

Eight years later, Nami's town was invaded by pirates. The captain, Arlong, a frightening man who seemed to take on the appearance of a shark, demanded a large sum of money for every adult living in the town, and half as much for children. And without the proper tribute, he would kill them. Bellmere tried to save the girls, but in the end her love for them kept her from being able to lie about being their mother. She used her only money to save their lives, and with the last words "I love you", she was killed before their eyes.

It wasn't over yet. The pirates then learned of Nami's mapping skills, and having no proper cartographer of their own, they kidnapped the girl. She refused to do anything for them, she would not betray her town..her mother.. until Arlong made a deal with her. If she could gather 100,000,000 golden eagles while working for them as their cartographer, and give it to him, she and her village would be set free. She agreed, but did not tell any of the others in the village as to avoid giving them false hope if she failed. Thus most of them hate her, thinking she betrayed them.

Life as Arlong's little servant was not very pleasant, nomatter how many times she tried to kill him, he just wouldn't die. When she acted stubborn he would violently remind her of her mother's death, and how the villagers would suffer the same fate if she continued to fight him.

From then on she obeyed his orders, and in her free time took on the role of a thief, pretending to joining up with pirates easily with her fantastic navigating skills, then stealing their gold and bringing it back to her home island. Now she is nineteen years old, and still a few thousand eagles away from her goal.

Appearance: Shoulder length orange hair, very shapely, brown eyes, usually well dressed, and sporting a blue tattoo on her left shoulder, which she usually keeps under a bandage or hidden with her clothes.
